Songwriting

It’s one of my favorite ways to unwind, but it also gives me the most stress.

I love writing songs. It’s how I express the inexpressible, how I expose the embarrassing, how I organize my thoughts into the concision of a few words. Yet, songwriting is a strenuous process of mulling over diction and melodies that pushes me to a point of frustration with my lack of poetic direction and musical ability.

Lately, I’ve been wondering how I can get better. I want my songwriting to be refined to a point where I can proudly put forth my music as an accurate reflection of me.

I don’t think I’ve been trying hard enough.
